Corner Tap in Faversham Gets Muddy For Go Ability

Go Ability Trust are excited to announce the grand total raised by The Corner Tap, Faversham and its wonderful supporters last month …

Six brave members of the Faversham micro-pub got together to undertake a Tough Mudder event in September, raising funds for Go Ability Trust in the process.

On September 29th, following their muddy marathon, the group returned to The Tap for an after party, with contributions from practically everyone in town.

Shane Horton (Corner Tap Manager) comments:

‘I was so happy with the Tough Mudder Charity Event that took place for Go Ability Trust. I really enjoyed all aspects of it. It was quite a big project for The Corner Tap and the first of its kind for the venue.’

Raffle donations came from more than twenty-five local businesses including Anno Distillery, Creekside Boxing and The Gunpowder Mill, plus many ale-related giveaways from the Corner-Tap themselves.

Shane: ‘The build up to the event was all about networking with other businesses, creating a team, training, advertising, creating some noise. We were able to raise awareness of The Trust in the Faversham area and also some much needed funding.

‘We will still keep a tin at The Tap and are happy with a grand total of £1027.11. It was great to work with the charity on this event. I Hope Go Ability Trust will be able to create a couple of smiles with this and hope we can do more in the future to help support the group.’

Trust Co-Ordinator, Paul Wrynne adds:

‘It was a fantastic evening on Saturday (29th) and I hope The Corner Tap staff are happy with how it all went and are proud of how much they have achieved.

‘You immediately get the feeling that the venue is truly part of the Faversham community and everyone I spoke to on the day had nothing but praise for the work The Corner Tap is doing to bring local businesses together and have a positive impact on the wider community too.

‘I don’t believe Go Ability Trust has seen so many supporters stepping up to work on one event like this, from preparing the food, donating prizes, selling (and buying) raffle tickets plus sharing the Tap’s efforts on social media too. It was great to bump into a couple of the trust’s beneficiaries at the party, too!

‘This support for our organisation shows that there are plenty of people out there who share our vision to empower people with learning disabilities to access their own community without compromise or discrimination. My thanks go out to the whole community for their efforts!’

Comments from winners:

‘Well done to the Tough Mudder team at The Corner Tap. The evening was hugely successful with a great turn out and demonstrates how The Corner Tap is fast becoming a “cornerstone” of the Faversham business community. The huge amount of raffle prizes donated by local businesses proves how working together can make a great difference to the lives of others. I can’t wait to pick up my fruit tree from Edible Culture. Thanks to all involved.’ – Angela Williams

‘I won prizes from The Furlong, Creekside Vinyl, and The Copper Rivet Distillery Tour – Thanks so much to all the businesses who donated prizes – I couldn’t be happier with these! What a fantastic evening at The Corner Tap, it’s great to see how passionate people are about what Go Ability Trust is doing!’ – Billy Joseph

‘Thanks Go Ability Trust and The Corner Tap for a fun evening, the Tap is a lovely venue, there was a really warm atmosphere and I was delighted to win the website build from Nine Circles in the raffle!’ – Mark Windsor
